MUBO - museum interior

MUBO (Boxtel Museum of History) asked me to do the Design for their entrance hall, I was initially surprised for my style as an interior architect was quite opposite to their reputation as a museum. But, when I heard of their issue’s, it became more clear. They wanted to reach a wider audience with more modern art pieces and modern interior to accentuate them.
They wanted to create an experience in their space and give visitors a strong impression they will keep with them.

I infused the map of Boxtel’s history into the Interior. As a graphic accent throughout the museum, in a literal sense, as well as hidden in the layout. I played with how interior design choices can accentuate the architecture of a building and how it can guide a person’s behavior inside the space. The Design choices create a dialogue between the architecture and the catalog of the
museum.
